Holidays in the medieval Mühlbach

The medieval town invites visitors to stroll through the streets, to taste the culinary delicacies in one of the good restaurants or to enjoy the countless activities in the holiday region Gitschberg and Jochtal.

Mühlbach is situated conveniently between the two valley Eisacktal and Pustertal. The centre itself is quite tranquil. People stroll through the pretty town centre, go shopping or sit down in the next café, enjoying a delicious cappuccino.

Within a few minutes, from Mühlbach, you can reach Meransen, the wonderful valley of Vals and the village of Spinges: with its rustic farm houses and homely inns, as well as noble hotels and a wonderful landscape that is ideal for hiking.

Attractions in Mühlbach

The market town has several historical buildings and residence. Ansitz Freyenthurn is particularly worth-seeing. The former aristocratic estate today houses a monastery school.

Worth a visit as well is Mühlbach fortress. Dating back to the 15th century. It has been preserved with its walls and towers and is open for visitors. Here, various events take place from time to time too.

The church square of Mühlbach is located on a hill in the village centre. It once served as a market square. Today, there are several restaurants and cafés offering regional delicacies and tasty coffee.

From Mühlbach, a cableway allows you to reach Meransen and the hiking area Gitschberg Jochtal within a few minutes. The idyllic landscape of alpine is perfect for family excursions, bike tours or for simply relaxing.

Cyclists will look forward to Pustertal cycle path, starting directly in Mühlbach and finishing in Lienz in Austria.
