Toblach: first-class active holidays
Toblach in the valley of Hochpustertal is one of the most popular holiday destinations among Italian vacationers. They love the many excellent hotels there, as well as the wonderful view to the Dolomites and the easy accessibility via Cortina, coming from the south.
These already are some good reasons to come to Toblach, aren’t they? At the beginning of the 20th century, the village in the eastern part of South Tyrol was a popular summer resort for the Austrian nobility.
Today, the magnificent Grand Hotel Toblach reminds of this first period of prosperity. After World War II, Toblach was no longer so important, but in the last 20 years, the village regained its relevance for tourism.
No wonder. There is hardly something you can’t do here: skiing, hiking, biking, swimming, relaxing, shopping… First of all, Toblach is a perfect starting point, if you want to make some of the best hiking tours through the Dolomites and if you want to visit the most famous mountains: the so called “Drei Zinnen” (Three Peaks of Lavaredo).
Several biking tours draw through the vicinity and southwards to Cortina. During the winter month, Haunold and Helm are the best skiing areas next to Toblach. Lovers of spa or culinary pleasures will also find the right place, as well as friends of culture and music. Highlights for them are the music weeks in honor of Gustav Mahler and the Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival, taking place every summer in Toblach.
