Fabulous Karersee

The Karersee, nearby Welschnofen, is one of the most beautiful lakes of South Tirol. Embedded in the Dolomites and surrounded by coniferous forests, which are typical for this region, the lake is primarily famous because of its enchanting play of colours. The two well-known Mountains of the Dolomites, Rosengarten and Latemar, are reflected from the emerald green water of the lake and offer the observer an impressive and unforgettable sight. Over time the small mountain lake and its mysterious beauty has become interesting for many artists and photographers. The Karersee is also subject in several of South Tyrol’s fairy-tales and legends.

Beside the wonderful sight of the crystal-clear lake, visitors get to appreciate the countless trails and possibilities for mountain biking. In the nearby surrounding the famous Dolomites offer a lot of opportunities for hiking and climbing for every level of difficulty. Further there is also a golf club with spectacular view to the Rosengarten and possibilities to go on horse riding trips next to Karersee.

But also in the winter time the Karersee provides a beautiful sight. You can enjoy snowshoe walks through the snow-covered forests or ski tours in the near mountains. The perfectly prepared slopes and toboggan runs of the nearby skiing areas Carezza and Obereggen (Ski Center Latemar) guarantee fun in the snow for the whole family.
