Bread and cakes in South Tyrol
The tradition of bread and cakes in South Tyrol are influenced by Austria.
The majority of bread here are made with rye flour as by ancient farm traditions. The bread has often spices such as sesame, fennel, cumin and coriander.
There are various types of bread, from the most thin and crunchy to the most soft one. The bread is an essential ingredient of many dishes, first of all, dumplings.
Also cakes are made with basic simple ingredients as milk, flour and eggs, very often of own production!
