Ibex via ferrata in Ratschings
The Ibex via ferrata in Ratschings is the new highlight for climbing enthusiasts in South Tyrol. With varied passages at difficulty level C, two extreme variants (E) and its own children's via ferrata, it offers adventure for the whole family – amidst the impressive mountain world of the Ratschings Valley.
At the end of the idyllic Ratschings Valley, a real adventure awaits you: the Ibex via ferrata. Newly built in 2024, it will delight both beginners and experienced via ferrata fans alike.
Approach & starting point
The starting point is the Pulvererhof in Innerratschings (car park available). From there, you can reach the start in just 5 minutes. If you are travelling by public transport, take bus line 319 from Sterzing to the Larchhof stop and then walk for about 20 minutes.
Route description
The main route is mainly graded B/C to C and leads through steep forest, over striking rock formations and airy edges to an imposing steep wall. Thrill seekers can try two spectacular variants with a difficulty rating of E:
- Plattenschleicher – a direct line across the steep wall
- Über die Dächer – an exposed path across overhanging rock roofs
The descent is via a marked hiking trail in a wide right-hand bend back to the starting point.
For families, there is also the RACI children's via ferrata, ideal for taking your first steps on the rock.
