Fixed-rope routes at Speikboden
The hiking and ski area Speikboden in Tauferer Ahrntal is a paradise for small and big climbers, as there are even two routes.
Speikboden cableway near Sand in Taufers brings active guests to a height of 2,000 m. Next to the station Speikboden Alm, there are two fixed-rope routes for climbers of (almost) every age: a moderate for advanced climbers and an easy route for kids.
The fixed-rope rope to Speikbodenkreuz (2,517 m) is a circular tour. The descent can be made via path no. 27 (1 h 30 min), via Panoramaweg path (2-3 h depending on the direction) or via Sonnklar chairlift (30 min). The route has a steel rope, clips, a rope bridge and a suspension bridge. On top of Speikboden, you are offered a marvellous 360-degrre panorama ranging from the Zillertal Alps to the Dolomites. Climbers must bring solid shoes, a via ferrata set, a harness and a helmet.

Climbing for kids
Near Speikboden Alm, there is a second fixed-rope route: The via ferrata for kids was designed for kids from 6 to 12 years. Climbing kids should bring solid shoes, a via ferrata set, harness and helmet.

Kids and adults can rent harnesses, via ferrata sets and helmets near the station Speikboden Alm. Attention: Do not miss the last descent to the valley, for not having to walk back down on foot.
