3 wonderful gardens in South Tyrol

Today is the first day of spring and the desire to be outdoors and admire nature's awakening is growing! The most famous garden in South Tyrol is undoubtedly that of Trauttmansdorff Castle, but there are many other gardens in South Tyrol that are transformed into flower-filled paradises and welcoming green spaces in the spring.

Today we would like to introduce you to three gardens that are perhaps less well known than Trauttmansdorff, but just as beautiful! We will tell you about a convent garden with an ancient giant sequoia, an orchid world with parrots and butterflies, and a work of nature's art.

Abbazia Novacella

The garden of the Abbey of  Neustift

The Abbey of the Augustinian Canons of Neustift is known as a place of faith and knowledge, education and reflection. It is also famous for the excellent wines it produces. If you wish, you can take a guided tour of the monastery or a tour of the vineyards with wine tasting.

In the monastery complex near Brixen there is also a beautiful baroque garden to discover, used for centuries by the monastic community as a place of relaxation and prayer. The richly restored historical monastery garden is made up of an orchard with a pavilion, a vegetable garden with numerous medicinal and aromatic herbs, and an ornamental garden with a gushing fountain and an aviary. The giant sequoia and centuries-old ginkgo trees are particularly impressive. The garden is open from May to September, Thursday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm.

Raffeiner Orchid World

The Raffeiner family business is passionate about orchids. In the Raffeiner Orchid World in Gargazon, you will not only learn about growing and caring for the different species and varieties of orchids, but you will also be immersed in an exotic world with all your senses. Children will marvel at the colourful parrots, butterflies and koi carp, while adults will enjoy the feeling of being almost in the jungle as they cross the suspension bridge and admire the small waterfall. Admission to the Orchid World is free for children under 6. And if you want to take a South Tyrolean orchid home with you, you can choose from around 150 species and varieties from the Raffeiner range. The Orchid Bistro offers culinary delights and a terrace, while children can have fun in the playground.

7 gardens and art at the Kränzelhof winery

The Kränzelhof in Tscherms combines the pleasure of wine, the experience of nature and the enjoyment of art. For Franz and Stephanie von Pfeil, creativity and passion are required everywhere: in wine production, garden design and sculpture creation.

The Kränzelhof is a place that delights the senses, the heart and the mind, with wine tastings and South Tyrolean snacks, temporary exhibitions and vernissages. The 7 gardens of the Kränzelhof can also be visited on their own with one ticket: discover special places and enjoy the harmony between natural beauty and works of art by local and international artists. Some 20 artists have enriched the gardens with their sculptures. The Labyrinth Garden is particularly popular with children.
