In Pedratsches we board the chairlift "Santa Croce", which takes us up to an altitude of 1,840 m. From the top station we follow the "Kreuzgang" towards the Heiligkreuz-Hospiz (2,045 m) and then continue over steep terrain to the Kreuzkofel-Scharte (2,621 m). Now it is another 300 metres in altitude to the summit cone of the Heiligkreuzkofel (2,907 m), from where you can enjoy a magnificent view over the Gadertal valley and the alpine world of the Fanes. Continue on trail no. 12 to the junction with trail no. 7, which finally leads to the cosy Lavarella Hut. There we can recover from the long, strenuous and in every respect impressive hike.  The equally long way back should be done the next day.
