Ski tour to Sextner Stein

We have to mention its importance if we consider that from the peak of Mt. Sextner Stein photographers shot the most beautiful photos of the north faces of the famous Drei Zinnen (Three Peaks). Furthermore, it is surely a rewarding destination for a ski touring.

Tour description

From Sexten/Moos in Pustertal Valley you drive first of all in direction to mountain pass Kreuzberg and then into the valley Fischleintal. Park there near Hotel Dolomitenhof. Take the cross country ski slope and hike into the valley until you reach the refuge called Talschlusshütte.

Go to the right and arrived at a fork, take the path to the right again and walk through the valley Altsteintal to the Bödenseen grounds. From here you can see already the Mt. Sextner Stein: It is the end point of the ridge to Mt. Toblinger Knoten. Walk to the ridge and then to Mt. Sextner Stein and you will be amazed by the breathtaking view over the Drei Zinnen north faces and the other Dolomites peaks. The descent from Mount Sextner Stein is the same as the ascent.
