Corn snow tours in spring

In spring it’s time for the classics! Skiing in the deep powder snow in the Dolomites is surely one of the most thrilling winter-sports in South Tyrol.

Those who have experienced all the classical downhill, are surely part of the best skiers in the world and those went skiing in 2 m deep powder snow on Marmolada will never more care about Canada. In winter, the Dolomites are often endangered by avalanches. But in spring the classic channels and gorges become corn snow paradises.

The snow is still frozen in the morning, but with the first rays of sun, the snow becomes “corned” and therefore the ideal underground for an unforgettable ride. And the panorama of Sella, Cristallo and Tofane is really breathtaking in the first warm sunbeams.

Very popular and not to difficult corn snow tours are the ones in the valleys Mezdì and Setus near Kolfuschg in Alta Badia. More challenging channels and gorges can be found between Sass Pordoi and Sella (Holzer channel or Sassongher channel). Please always take a ski guide, if you want to go skiing there for the first time!
