Ortler Classic Run
Region: Southern South Tyrol
Car lovers should bear in mind: the Ortler Classic Run takes place again! This special event is anything but a cozy Sunday drive. For a distance of 350 kilometers, the participants have to cope with eight alpine passes and about 10.000 meters of difference in altitude.
This is going to be a major challenge for both – drivers and cars. Therefore, the day will start with a fortifying breakfast at "Garage61" in Eppan. Then the drivers start in intervals of one minute. But it is not just a usual race: The co-drivers have to solve different tasks, if they want their team to win.
From Eppan in Southern South Tyrol it goes right to the famous Mendel pass and then down to Val di Non. The Gavia pass, which is unsecured in several parts, brings you to Bormio. After crossing the Swiss border and having lunch in Livigno, you have to take the Foscagno pass and you’ll find yourself in Bormio again.
At the Ortler Classic Run, one highlight is followed by another and so it leads you to the highest tarred road in South Tyrol, the Stilfser Joch. Once you are at the top of this unique pass, you’ll be rewarded with a wonderful view of Mt. Ortler. After the final descent, a cold beer, dinner and of course, the presentation ceremony are awaiting you in brewery Forst in Vinschgau.
Authorized to the Ortler Classic Run are old-timer, young-timer, sports cars, convertibles and motorcycles. Anyone who’d like to participate has to fill out the registration form and if you don’t own a suitable vehicle, you can borrow one. Then, nothing should be standing between you and a wonderful summer weekend!
