Böckl race in Olang
Winter sports fans – heads up! If you would like to broaden your mind beyond ski races, snowboard contests and tobogganing competitions, we warmly recommend you the "Böckl" race taking place in Olang.
You don’t know what a "Böckl" is? A short explication: It is a special piece of winter sports equipment. Allegedly it was invented in Olang and in its basic form it is composed of a ski, a seat pad plate and two grab handles. With a bit of practice and balance you can use it to speed down on a snow-covered slope.
That sounds not only funny, it is funny. Therefore the club "Die Geilen Böcke", which is totally dedicated to this exceptional winter sport, organizes also this year a "Böckl" race in Olang, in collaboration with the local amateur sports club.
Program of the Böckl race
The event is scheduled for Saturday, 18th February 2012. The participants will match in different categories (for instance kids, teenagers, women/men, two-seater, racing class and others) and have to manage the varied floodlit race course on the slope of Mt. Kronplatz, next to the district Gassl.
If you don’t possess proper wheels, you can also loan a "Böckl". And for all those, who would like to exercise riding techniques, can participate in the free training on the eve of the race.
