Stabeler high alpine route

And this most of all because he is a real "high-alpine" route. He moves always to average of 2500 m above sea level. Here a good many times lays snow still in June.

The best time to go about Stabeler high alpine route is doubtless the summer from July till September. He connects the Schwarzenstein refuge with the Chemnitzer refuge: you need 14,5 hours of walking time. Good luck!

Tour description:

We start our hiking tour in St. Johann in Tauferer Ahrntal, parking our car in the car park near Stallila Inn. From there we walk to Daimler hut and then steeper to a path junction. Attention: don’t follow the signposts of Stabeler high alpine route but the ones to Schwarzenstein refuge at 3,026 m above sea level, because there you will spend your first night.

The day after we have to go back to the path junction and take now the path number 24a, the Stabeler high alpine route.

Following the path we come to a nick named "Zu Törla" at 2,746 m above sea level. On the other side we come into the valley Schwarzenbach and go soon on the ascent to the next nick. The ascent is very steep and partially assured.

On the other side of the nick we come to the valley Mitterbach. Following path 24a you pass corn snow fields (which sometimes can be icy). After we have pass the Mitterbach Valley, we come to the Trattenbach Valley and to Göge Alm alpine pasture. After a short ascent we come finally to Chemnitzer Refuge where we stay overnight for a last time.

The next day we go unhurried to the village Weißenbach, where we take the public transport to come back to our cars.
