Route description

From Vernagt you climb up to the Tisenhof. From there, take trail no. 2 along the Leiterbach stream into the Tisental valley. After a strenuous ascent (approx. 3.5 hours), you reach the Similaunhütte on the Niederjoch at 3,017 metres above sea level.

You can either return from here or walk for an hour to visit Ötzi's discovery site on the edge of the Niederjochferner, but beware: a visit to the discovery site is a high-alpine tour for experienced mountaineers only!
