Giro d'Italia in South Tyrol
Our editorial team always tries to provide detailed and accurate information, but it is possible that events undergo changes that we are unable to update in real time. Exact details on dates, times and programmes can be obtained directly from the organiser.
South Tyrol connoisseurs know: The steeper the routes and the more exhausting the climbs, the nicer the surrounding mountain scenery that pays for every exertion.
Probably also the organisers of the international cycle race Giro d’Italia agree about this.
Nearly every year the map of the legendary cycle tour through Italy includes a stage in the South Tyrolean mountains and almost every time the Giro d’Italia revalues its mountain program with a challenging stage in the South Tyrolean Dolomites, through other mountain regions or on famous mountain passes.
For instance, in the last years the participants of the Giro had to reach several times the mountain top of Kronplatz and manage ascending slopes up to 24 %.
During the next Giro d'Italia the cyclists have to tackle one demanding stage scheduled for 26th May 2023 in South Tyrol.
Details of the Giro d'Italia 2023 in South Tyrol:
- 26th May - 19th stage
- 182 km - 5,400 metres altitude difference
- In South Tyrol the Giro d'Italia passes by Corvara, La Villa and St. Kassian.
- Four Dolomites passes are crossed: Passo Campolongo, Passo Valparola, Passo Giau and Passo Tre Croci.
