Three Peaks Hut (2,405 m)
Route description
Not far from Toblach, at the entrance to the Höhlenstein Valley, is the Hotel Drei Zinnen-Blick. This is where our hike begins. The path leads into the Rienza Valley with a moderately increasing gradient. Here you can already enjoy a first, albeit brief, view of the rock cathedrals of the Three Peaks. We pass the entrance to the Rimbianco Valley and a short time later hike along the now somewhat narrower hiking trail through the Rinbon Valley. We finally reach the Drei Zinnen hut (2,405 m) via a rocky terrain step and a few hairpin bends. The view of the north faces of this alpine jewel is impressive. The South Tyrolean specialities in the oversized Three Peaks/Drei Zinnen hut are of the very finest quality.
You can choose to return via the ascent route or take the path over the Zinnenkopf. In this case, follow the signpost at Rienzboden (not far from the Drei Zinnen hut) to Col Forcellina and the Zinnenkopf. Enjoy one last view of the Three Peaks before you reach the Three Peaks road on the path to Forcella Col di Mezzo and via path no. 108 through the Arghena Valley. Finally, you cross the Rimbianco Alp and return to the starting point of the hike at the Hotel Drei Zinnen-Blick.
