Animal shelter Vintl

„It is our mission to bring animals and men together for a better life.” This is the maxim of the committed animal shelter in Obervintl in South Tyrol.

Whether big or small quadruped, abandoned or sick animals, dogs or cats, in this sanctuary every pet hunkers down – even though just for a while. At best the animal shelter is only a stopover, till Bello, Lucy & Co. will again find a home.

For cute kittens normally this isn’t a great problem. But also older pussycats and dogs are waiting for an animal lover to take them home. In part there are abandoned or maltreated animals, needing much love and care. In part former masters could no longer look after their pets because of health reasons or other matters.

The landlady of the present animal shelter Vintl has always loved animals. Together with her husband she finally decided to establish and finance a reception camp for homeless and ownerless animals. Since then the privately sanctuary has been led without benefits of the province. Indeed the corresponding association gets some contributions, but in this way the expenses for feed, veterinary, maintenance etc. aren’t covered at all.

How can we help?

Of course the best way to help is to take home one of the nice animals. Moreover animal lovers may aid the shelter in terms of money: with feed offerings or donations, with a membership of the association (20 € per year) or with bounties for the fundraising boxes that can be found in several shops and bars of the region.

Opening hours of the animal shelter Obervintl: Monday till Friday from 2 to 5 pm. In addition to this sanctuary in South Tyrol there are two more animal shelters, one in Naturns near Meran and one in Bozen.
