Sellaronda ski marathon

Our editorial team always tries to provide detailed and accurate information, but it is possible that events undergo changes that we are unable to update in real time. Exact details on dates, times and programmes can be obtained directly from the organiser.
During the day, skiers use the lift facilities in order to get over the rising parts of the famous skiing carousel, Sellaronda. In contrast, the correspondent ski marathon takes place at night and forbids the use of the ski lifts around Mt. Sella.

Therefore, the participants have to be quite fit, finally they have to overcome four mountain passes and four valleys. The route itself is very arduous and difficult. Nevertheless, in the last years, numerous athletes participated in the Sellaronda ski marathon.

Details of the Sellaronda ski marathon

The athletes start in teams of two (men, women or mixed) in one of the four villages Arabba, Canazei, Wolkenstein and Corvara. They have to be equipped with touring skis and climbing skins, backpacks, avalanche devices, helmets, headlights etc.

In total the participants have to manage 42 kilometres and about 2,700 metres of difference in altitude between the four Dolomites passes of Gröden, Campolongo, Pordoi and Sella. Undoubtedly, the Sellaronda ski marathon is one of the most challenging ski touring races throughout the mountains.
