South Tyrol at Expo Milano 2015

Expo Milano 2015, a Universal Exhibition that assembled countries from all over the world around the topic “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”, took place in Milan from May 1 to October 31, 2015. In this six-month period, the various nations, countries and cultures presented themselves to become known internationally!

South Tyrol has acknowledged immediately that it should not be missing at this event and it has strived to participate from 2013! The organisation in charge of this project has been EOS – Export Organisation South Tyrol.

The general purpose of the responsibles had been to promote the brand South Tyrol successfully, analysing and presenting the seven elementary virtues of the territory (products, landscape, people, architecture, sustainability, alpine technologies, everyday life) and aiming at enthralling ideas for the various categories of visitors. The intention of attending Expo was to convey a surprising and striking image of South Tyrol, to establish exceptional business contacts and to increase the territory’s visibility and reputation.

A vertical journey through history, traditions and taste

The stand that hosted South Tyrol at Expo 2015 was an oeuvre of Architect Manuel Benedikter from the company Helios. The structure, realised in larch wood with a height of 13 m, rised vertically and was directly situated on the “Cardo”, the access route at the Italy pavilion, which represented the heart of the exhibition. When ascending towards the peak of the construction, the visitors were on a journey through history, culture and the traditions of the country. Three observation platforms exhibited the rich offer.

Among other things, it was also possible to become familiar with the territory’s  gastronomy, represented by Marion Pristinger, restorer and owner of the Boutique Hotel Zum Rosembaum in Nals.

At the centre of Milan, moreover, there was also present a second location hosting events connected to South Tyrol. Here, there participated also the wide variety of private partners.
