Short description

Cycling in the Sarntal Valley: pedalling up the Jöchlsberg from Sarnthein in the South of South Tyrol.

Description of the tour

This mountain bike tour takes you from Sarnthein through the Tanzbachtal valley to Jöchlsberg. Val Sarentino is perfect for active holidaymakers: many trails, even more excursion destinations and all of them still have the air of the undiscovered.

Starting point of the tour

Village centre Sarnthein

Destination of the tour

Jöchler cross

Route description

The starting point of the mountain bike tour is the village centre of Sarnthein. Here, mountain bikers cycle along the Talfer river to the sports ground and, after the bridge, take the tarmac path out of the valley to the Hotel Bad Schörgau. From here, continue to the Sarntaler Straße road and then turn right through the hamlet of Bundschen and left after the bridge up to Wildlahn.
A fairly steep road takes you to the Jöchler and on path no. 19 to the Jöchlerkreuz. This is where the technical part of the tour begins: first an extremely challenging descent on a gravel track, then a stretch of tarmac road to the Dörflerhof (trail no. 20), continuing on a very steep section (with sections of pushing) to the Schmiedhof. After a short rest, you return from here to the starting point in Sarnthein.
