The Jaufen Pass has a maximum height of 2,094 m and is a mountain pass, which forms the transition between the Stubai Alps in Northwest and the Sarntal Alps in Southeast. In the middle of a unique natural landscape, Italy’s most northern alpine pass offers breath-taking panoramic views. The winding road goes through dense woods and passes along green pastures on the top. Above 1,200 m, the area is entirely uninhabited.
39 km and 20 turnings between 2 valleys
In order to climb the pass, it is necessary to master 20 turnings and a track of 39 kilometres. Motorcycle lovers feel like in paradise – there are set no limits to your passion!
On the highest point of the historical mountain pass, you have a wonderful view over the Vinschgau, Stubai, Zillertal and Sarntal Alps.
Having reached the top, the mountain inn Jaufenhaus is a well-known rest point. It is open all year round. However, in winter, the Jaufen Pass road is only open during the day and depending on the snow conditions. The guesthouse also offers 50 beds for motorcyclists, hikers, bikers, skiers and for those who would simply like to regenerate.
Winter paradise Jaufen Pass
During the cold season, the environs of the South Tyrolean Jaufen Pass are a real paradise for skiing lovers and many other winter sports enthusiasts. The Ratschings Jaufen skiing area awaits you with modern ski lifts, 35 km of slopes for beginners and advanced skiers, impressive slopes for carvers and snowboarders, a halfpipe, 10 km of cross-country ski runs as well as a 7 km long sledge run. Moreover, winter hikes and snowshoeing tours will delight you!
