The municipality of Schnals owes its name to the Schnals Valley, which is formed by the river Schnals. Past Naturns and the region Meran, after a few kilometres you will find yourself at the entrance to this beautiful and picturesque valley, which is known for its old farms, the Carthusian monastery “Allerengelsberg” and the Schnals Valley Glacier. In 1991, the famous Ötzi mummy, also known as the Iceman or the Similaun Man, was found there and is now in the Archaeological Museum in Bozen.
