Ortler Bike Marathon
The Ortler Bike Marathon in Vinschgau has been an important part of the mountain bike racing calendar in South Tyrol for several years. This year, however, the event presents itself with completely new routes.
1 race – 4 routes
Start and finish are in the village of Graun. It is located right next to the region’s most famous symbol, the steeple, which rises out of the Reschen Lake. The race is planned as circular tour, and the participants can choose between four routes:
- Marathon: 111 km and 3,905 m of difference in altitude
- Long: 69 km and 2,400 m of difference in altitude
- Classic: 46 km and 1,650 m of difference in altitude
- Short: 29 km and 850 m of difference in altitude
When planning the race, the organizers placed great emphasis on including the cultural highlights in the surrounding area. Depending on the distance chosen, the race passes Churburg Castle, Marienberg Monastery or the medieval town of Glurns. The village of Nauders on the Austrian side is part of the marathon course.
