Dorfhotel Moar am Latemar

Hotel in Obereggen in Eggental / South Tyrol

Family-run hotel in the Dolomites, cosy wooden rooms with balcony, half board, wellness area with indoor pool & hands-on hosts.

Welcome to Dorfhotel Moar am Latemar

Our family-run hotel is located in the small village of Eggen, in the heart of the Eggental valley, close to the ski lifts of the Latemar Dolomites ski area. What makes us truly special: you can feel the personal touch here – we run a weekly programme led by the family themselves. Monika takes you on guided hikes through the Eggental and the surrounding Dolomites. Arnold hosts lively grill evenings featuring regional specialities. And for those who want to discover the wines of South Tyrol, our weekly wine evening with Viktoria is the perfect occasion.

Cosy Rooms & Spacious Suites

Our rooms are furnished in warm wood and feature a balcony, satellite TV, safe, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. Many rooms also include a double sofa bed – ideal for families. Our new Suite Filazi offers even more space for larger families. The hotel has a lift, underground garage, ski and drying room, as well as a shuttle service from Bolzano train station or airport.

Wellness, Culinary Delights & active Experiences

In our wellness oasis with indoor pool, Finnish sauna, salt sauna, steam bath and infrared cabin, you can recharge after an action-packed day. In the evening, a 4-course half-board dinner rounds things off perfectly. Whether skiing, snowboarding, hiking or climbing – the Eggental offers unforgettable adventures in every season. Bolzano is just a 20-minute drive away.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Everything was great! The owner, in particular, was always there to help and advise. The highlight was the hike to the Latemar Hut.

We've been vacationing in Trentino-Alto Adige for over 30 years, and in recent years we've found the Mo.Ar. Hotel to be the perfect place for us, where we can enjoy the mountains and their hikes, the tranquility, the delicacies prepared by Arnold and his staff, and the friendliness of Monika, who also accompanies her guests on enchanting excursions. See you soon! Luigi

What can we say? It was simply wonderful. We felt almost at home. Monika gave us a very warm welcome on the first day, and that continued throughout our entire vacation. Veronika is just as warm and helpful, and Arnold's food was simply superb. Our dog was also welcome and allowed to come along. Monika even had tape and ointment on hand when I injured my ankle. It was simply a great feeling to be there. The swimming pool is also very stylishly furnished, and the sauna is lovely. The rooms are beautifully equipped, modern, and comfortable. The balcony has a fantastic view. In the evenings, the village comes together in the bar, which we really enjoyed. The location is also fantastic; you can head straight out with your dog, and the ski area is just a short drive away. Thank you for the wonderful time.

My wife and I spent the period from Boxing Day 2025 to January 2, 2026. We were greeted by the owner's daughter, who was smiling and full of information, but forgot to introduce herself. We were assigned room 203: very spacious (a double sofa bed in addition to the normal bed), very clean, well-heated, and with a large balcony. One small flaw: the flimsy cushions didn't allow for natural head support. The cuisine: extraordinary in quality and authenticity, good in quantity. No further words are needed. One tiny observation: some of the buffet salads run out before others and aren't re-offered, and if you arrive a moment later, you'll find a limited selection. The dining room: immaculately maintained, very bright, beautifully furnished, with exposed wood predominating: a true gem. The service: Veronica and Daniela are simply extraordinary. Attentive, friendly, never intrusive: so much professionalism. Unfortunately, one sore point and not at all pleasant: the drinks. 5 euros for a bottle of mineral water (0.79 in the shop)!!! From 29 euros for a bottle of Muller Thurgau DOC, up to 37 euros for a bottle of Barbera d'Alba DOC, and finally 76 euros for bottles of Barolo DOCG and Chianti DOCG. I speak as an informed person. A markup that hovers around 400%. It's not fair. It's not right to "kill the wine market." Behind every bottle is a cellar, there are people who work with great sacrifice, there's an entire related industry. I expressed my thoughts, this knowledge of mine to the lady who had welcomed us, and she immediately offered me a bottle of house wine, which I accepted very lightly. She brought me a bottle containing a "red-colored food liquid" (wines are another matter entirely), of a mediocre alcohol content (12% vol), pasteurized, in a 1-liter container with a screw cap. The next day, on the receipt for extra drinks, I found the price: 22 euros. Between €2.10 and €2.40 in the shop. To whom... the observations. I can drink two glasses of that red liquid, and then it stays there for the entire stay. Dear Madam, as a business owner you've made a great deal, but as a hotelier you're not exactly making a good impression. The prices you charge for drinks are those of luxury restaurants! I'm not disparaging your restaurant, which is highly qualified for the dishes you serve and the meticulous service you provide, but in your splendid hotel, the restaurant still doesn't reach that level. In addition to the price of the stay (you're among the very few who don't ask for a single cent of deposit and everything is paid at checkout, and I give you great credit for that), please also publish the price of extras during the booking process. This will avoid unpleasant surprises for guests. Apply the prices you deem appropriate, but also respect the work of your suppliers.

We spent a week's summer vacation at the Moar Hotel. We can wholeheartedly recommend it. The welcome was warm and friendly right from the start. Arnold's food was absolutely delicious, and the service from Vicky, Vroni, and the entire team was truly outstanding! And let's not forget Moni. Moni planned an e-bike tour for us, went hiking with us, and answered all our questions with a smile. Thank you all so much for a wonderful week!

I've been coming to this hotel for several years now and I'm always delighted. The hotel is beautiful and offers a wide range of amenities, including a swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath, and whirlpool. There are children's rooms and a garden in front where they can play with slides and much more. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the chef cooks delicious dishes. I highly recommend it.
