We wanted to treat ourselves to a week of hiking in a beautiful setting, and we not only discovered a stunning hiking area but also a fantastic hotel from start to finish. The hotel is situated on a high plateau with breathtaking views and sunshine (weather permitting). Whether in the restaurant, bar, or spa, the view is guaranteed. The bar has a great selection, and the waiters are very helpful. We were especially grateful for their drink recommendations from the Dolomites, which we were able to take home with us. The restaurant also went the extra mile, offering a different menu each day that catered to everyone: carnivores, vegetarians, and vegans. And if nothing appealed to you, there was a small à la carte menu. The hotel has two spa areas: one on the ground floor with a large swimming pool, and another on the roof with a small infinity pool. Both locations have saunas, and the times for the sauna infusions are posted at each one. The upper sauna is a nude area. I especially want to commend the staff. Due to my poor preparation, I wasn't familiar with the hiking area, but the reception staff was very helpful. We were able to do the suggested hikes, and because some of the employees are local, they were also able to help out when we were, for example, puzzling over the menu in the bar and restaurant. Absolutely fantastic! Everyone else was also very helpful, friendly, and professional. To dog owners: our furry friends are welcome here too! We'd love to come back again!

I stayed at the Sonnenberg Hotel for the first time with friends and my dog, and we were absolutely thrilled. We can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and all its facilities. We've also visited other wellness hotels in South Tyrol, but the Sonnenberg Hotel surpasses them all, by far the best. From check-in to check-out (we were there for a week), we had nothing but positive experiences with every member of staff. Our suite in the brand-new annex, with its whirlpool on the terrace, was simply amazing. Enjoying the sunset in our own private whirlpool was an absolute dream. The entire spa area topped it all off. The sauna infusions, usually performed by Manuel (whom we already knew from other hotels), were the best kind of show, the kind you usually only see in large thermal baths. The culinary offerings left nothing to be desired, from breakfast to lunch, afternoon tea, and a multi-course dinner menu. In short, the value for money was absolutely excellent. Finally, it should be mentioned that this hotel is absolutely dog-friendly, which is not something to take for granted these days.

The breakfast buffet is incredibly varied, fresh, and of the highest quality. The option of enjoying a warm, delicious pasta dish at lunchtime is a welcome boost. The evening menus are simply sensational. The diverse courses, often based on regional products, are not only a culinary delight but also a work of art for the eyes. A team that makes the difference As impressive as the well-maintained grounds and the food are – what is truly exceptional about the Sonnenberg are the people. The host family and every single employee embody a warmth, attentiveness, and genuine friendliness that we have rarely experienced. You don't feel like a guest, but like a friend of the family. World-Class SPA & Wellness Two experiences deserve special mention: 1. The SPA Treatments: Eliana at the spa is a gem. Her passion is palpable in every touch. Whether it's a massage, facial, or body treatment, her dedication is exceptional, and the result is pure relaxation. You truly feel like you're floating on cloud nine. 2. The Sauna World: Sauna masters Bianca, Eddy, and Manuel deliver outstanding service. The three daily infusions in the late afternoon are absolutely top-notch. Manuel, a former bodybuilding world champion, in particular, transforms the infusion into an unforgettable show. His professionalism, his perfected towel-waving technique, and his presence are unique. This isn't just an infusion; it's pure entertainment and well-being. Conclusion The beautiful surroundings, perfect for all kinds of hikes, complete the package. Everything about Hotel Sonnenberg is perfect: the "hardware" (rooms, facilities, food) is top-notch, but the "software" (the people) makes this place unforgettable. An unqualified recommendation for anyone seeking a perfect getaway with warm, welcoming service. We'll definitely be back!

Everything is perfect

In our opinion, the hotel is 5-star. We've been there 4 times now, and this time it was even better. Starting with the friendly reception, we were escorted to our room, and everything was explained to us very well.

We visited Sonnenberg for the first time this October, following several recommendations, and quickly realized that this wouldn't be our last visit! From the very beginning, we were warmly welcomed, and everything was explained and shown to us. The cleanliness in all areas and the attentive service are particularly noteworthy! The cuisine is simply top-notch! A very special thank you goes to Manu, whose personality and charisma make the sauna infusions a unique experience! We can wholeheartedly recommend Sonnenberg!

Everything is absolutely top class.

This September wasn't our first visit to Maranza, but it was our first visit to the Hotel Sonnenberg. We had high expectations, but they were exceeded! Everything was simply wonderful. The room was completely renovated and spacious. The food was excellent, whether at breakfast, an afternoon snack, or in the evening. We always visited the wellness area after our day trips; it's new and spread over two floors. On the first floor, there's an infinity pool, a spa area, a wellness area with a textile-wearing area, an adults-only area, and fitness rooms. On the sixth floor, there's another adults-only sauna with a panoramic pool. There are plenty of quiet spots to relax, both inside and out. We loved the ambiance throughout the hotel. The various rooms are decorated with great attention to detail. High praise also goes to the entire staff. We felt very comfortable and will be back.

We stayed at this hotel for a few days in June 2025. Overall, the stay was pleasant – I would particularly like to emphasize the excellent cleanliness in all areas, as well as the truly beautiful and well-maintained spa area, which invites you to relax. Unfortunately, however, there was a serious incident at the buffet: There was a self-service oil that, after consumption, turned out to have expired in 2021 (!). I unknowingly poured this oil on my salad and subsequently suffered severe stomach upset for several hours. This definitely shouldn't happen in a hotel of this category – there is clearly a lack of control and care in the food service. What further disappointed me was that when I reported the incident to the reception desk, I was offered neither a drink nor compensation or a price reduction. Furthermore, I was not informed that in such a case, I might also be entitled to compensation for pain and suffering. I find this behavior extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. I sincerely hope that this incident is taken seriously and that appropriate measures are taken in the future. Then the hotel would definitely have potential for a higher rating – because apart from that, a lot of things were right.
