Description

The Gais-Kehlburg-Amaten loop is a recommended tour for the whole family. There is a lot to see: a mysterious castle, deep forests, an adventurous scree cone and a breathtaking panorama of the central Puster Valley in South Tyrol from Amaten.

Route description

The family tour starts in Gais. Following trail no. 2, the route first leads through dense forest and up to sparse meadows with individual mountain farms as far as Kehlburg Castle. Continue on trail no. K to the beautifully situated farms of Amaten, where you can stop for refreshments and enjoy the panoramic views. Return on trail no. 5, past the Bärentalhof farm and into the Aufhofen scree cone (bouldering area) and to Gais.
