On 9th July 2017, Val Gardena will host the Val Gardena Mountain Run, departing from St. Ulrich and arriving at Monte Seceda.
The distance of the competition, which is organized by the Gherdёina Runners, is planned in a special way, in order to enable professional and hobby runners to participate.
Nevertheless, this mountain run is very challenging, but at the same time very beautiful, because it leads the runners through the wonderful landscape of the Dolomites.
Details of the Val Gardena Mountain Run 2017
The start of the competition is scheduled for Sunday, 9th July 2017 at 10 am at the Bahnhofs Street (1,221 m) in St. Ulrich in Gröden. From there, the athletes have to reach the Seceda mountain station (2,452 m). The route is about 14.5 kilometres long and covers a difference of altitude of 1,247 metres.
More precisely the competition route goes from St. Ulrich to the Refuge Da Pauli, continues up the picturesque chapel of St. Jakob, passes some mountain huts and to the finish line at the mountain station of the Seceda cable car.
The first runners will arrive at the finish line around 11.15 am, where their fans welcome them with music, food and drink. The presentation ceremony will take place at 13.30 pm in the house of culture in St. Ulrich.
After six editions of Val Gardena Mountain Run, Gröden is the setting of Dolomites Salsong Half Marathon from 2018!
