Our Hotel Restaurant Unterschattmair***S is located on a sunny hillside in Dorf Tirol, embedded in the idyllic vineyards and fruit orchards, which are typical for the region of Meran and environs. Our guests are looking forward to a unique location, a wonderful panoramic view to the popular spa town Meran and individual service. Since 1870, the inn is our family’s property. We want to offer you cosy holiday home, so we provide modern comfort combined with traditional Tyrolean style.

Modern rooms & culinary delights

You stay in pleasant, partially renovated guestrooms with shower/toilet, telephone, satellite TV, safe and radio and can relax on the nice sunny balcony or on the lawn for sunbathing with heated swimming pool and new infinity whirlpool. As well, we offer a playground, a covered car parking and free WLAN. Of course, we also take care of our guests’ well-being. We spoil you with many homemade South Tyrolean delicacies, tempting cakes, pastries, and refined diners. In the morning, we pamper you with a rich breakfast buffet with fruit from our garden, which you can also enjoy on our spacious sun terrace.

Relaxing holiday in the environs of Meran

The environs of Unterschattmairhof in Dorf Tirol offer numerous leisure time activities. You can visit the historical Castle Tirol, the botanic Gardens of Castle Trauttmansdorff or take a in the beautiful city of Meran. As well, hiking lovers will find everything they desire on the foot of the Texelgruppe nature park.

It's so beautiful here that I'm almost tempted not to write a review. After all, I'd love to come back and still want to get a free room ;-) The location's clear advantage is the incredible view of Merano (even from the pool). But that would only be half worth it if everyone here weren't so incredibly friendly and attentive. There was a major renovation in 2024/25, so the restaurant, reception, and rooms have been freshly renovated. Everything is in tip-top condition! The bus leaves every hour around the corner. Combined with the proximity to Tirolo and the Algund Forest Trail, it's an ideal starting point for hikes and excursions.
