Hiking tour Kalter High Mountain Trail
Hike in the south of South Tyrol: from Kaltern to the High Mountain Trail
Around Lake Kaltern, the otherwise unspoilt South Tyrol shows its Mediterranean side: vineyards, orchards and the Adige Valley, which widens towards the south. Lake Kaltern is enchanting.
Starting point of the tour
Rottenburger Platz in Kaltern
Destination of the tour
The starting point of the hiking tour is the Rottenburger Platz in Kaltern. From here, the route first leads to St. Nikolaus and continues along the Telefonsteig trail (no. 521). Hikers reach trail no. 9 and follow it southwards. The trail leads gently up and down along the panoramic high trail until a narrower valley opens up on the right.
There, the path crosses a stream and then branches off into path no. 9 to Altenburg, where hikers can recover from the previous hike on the "Altenburger Aussichtsterrasse". Return to Lake Kaltern on trail no. 14. Once you reach the lakeshore, we recommend walking along lake hiking trail no. 3 back to the starting point in Kaltern.
