Route description
From St. Joseph on the west side of Lake Kaltern, a road branches off to the right after 10 minutes. Along the road and signpost 20, turn left until you reach the signpost for Frühlingstal. Path 20 soon turns into a dirt track and leads past vineyards into the forest and into the so-called 'Frühlingstal' (Spring Valley), as the climate here is mild for the first spring flowers.
You cross a forest road, keep right at the next fork and reach the first farmsteads of Montiggl.
Continue along path 20 to the 'Großer Montiggler See' lake. Here you turn left and, passing the 'Schlössl', reach the Moser hotel and lido. From here it is another 10 minutes on path 1 to the 'Kleiner Montiggler See', which also has a swimming pool and inn.
Way back: First back to the large Montiggler See lake, walk a short distance along the road to the hairpin bend and then take path no. 5 to Montiggl. Continue on path no. 20, which branches off to the left and leads back to St. Joseph am Kalterer See.
