Christmas market Sarntal

A winter fairytale like in the year dot: If you visit the rustic valley of Sarntal during the Advent, you will experience a still very contemplative and leisurely Christmas market.

Today, the time before Christmas is often hectic and stressful, because everything has to be prepared for the special days. Some people are in panic for the gifts already in November and they completely forget about the most important parts of Christmas such as peace, family and rest.

One of the few refuges of a quiet and original Advent is Sarntal in South Tyrol. Here the alpine Advent is still full of contemplation and romance and old traditions still loom large.

Traditional Advent

One of the age-old Advent customs in Sarntal is the so called “Klöckeln”: Every Thursday in Advent the inhabitants of Sarntal disguise themselves, go from house to house, seek admission and sing a special “Klöckel” song.

In addition in Sarntal there are held advent church service in the parish church, you can make unforgettable tours with horses and carriages through the snow-covered landscape and watch turners and wood carvers at work.

Of course the Christmas market on the church square of Sarnthein offers also stalls with crafts and specialties, but they are open only at the weekends.

  • Saturday 15 December  + Sunday 16 December 2018
  • Saturday 22 December + Sunday 23 December 2018
  • Always from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
