To our guests, we offer spacious and comfortable rooms, most featuring a scenic view on the Dolomite Alps. Our junior chef Reinhold is personally taking care of your culinary well-being. Together with his team, he creates delicious dishes of the South Tyrolean cuisine as well as Mediterranean specialities. Inspired by the nature, he uses mainly products from the own farm. Our wellness area with a scenic view will invigorate your vital energy. Here you will find a panoramic indoor pool, a whirl pool, a Turkish steam bath, a Finnish sauna, a Kneipp bath, an infrared cabin, a relaxation oasis and a solar-heated outdoor pool featuring a sunbathing lawn. Pleasant wellness and beauty treatments will complete our services. In all rooms and in the entire hotel we offer free WLAN.

Excursions, family-run huts, and many activities

In the surroundings of our Berglandhotel Untertheimerhof beautiful hiking tours will await you all year round. At the idyllic Villanderer Alm alpine pasture you will find our hotel’s own alpine cabin, where we will invite you to a weekly barbecue in summer. During the warmer months, also mountain bikers will get their money’s worth. In autumn, you should not miss out on the traditional Törggelen featuring sweet chestnuts and new wine. In winter, the Villanderer Alm alpine pasture becomes a paradise for snowshoe hikers.

From July 22nd to 27th, 2024, we were guests at the Untertheimerhof and spent part of our vacation there. When we discovered the Untertheimerhof in Villanders in April 2024 at the OFFA St. Gallen, we were very impressed. The Google reviews also spoke for themselves – top ratings with a few exceptions. As the saying goes, "The exceptions prove the rule." Unfortunately, this was also the case for us: What we liked: • The overall infrastructure • The hotel's location with a beautiful view • The hiking opportunities around Villanders • We slept well What we didn't like: • Service: The wait time on the terrace for a drink averaged 30 to 60 minutes. • Service: After the waiter tripped and our neighbor's entrecôte landed on my back, there was no apology, just a muttered: "Now I have to get the broom." • Service: On the second-to-last evening, we didn't receive our dinner drinks until shortly before the main course (despite repeated requests). • Sauna: No towels • Bath towels: When we asked for bath towels at reception, we were told to take them from our room. However, guests at the swimming pool had different towels, and when we returned to reception, we were told they could be picked up at the laundry. • "Hotel with Heart" award from 1996: This award should have been as valid then as it is today. While this certainly applies to a few employees, we felt that the heart was missing from both the junior and senior managers. No introduction, no greeting, no conversation, no thank you. So you understand us correctly: We had no particular expectations in this regard, but what about a "hotel with heart"? To us, everything seemed unloved, and it gave us the feeling that something was wrong with this hotel or that the Untertheimerhof was having to cut costs. It's a shame about the beautiful house and the wonderful location, but this is not a 4-star hotel.
