DAS GERSTL Family Retreat has been welcoming guests of all ages since May 2025 as a sustainable holiday home for an eventful and relaxing family holiday in Vinschgau. Lots of wood and light, a spacious terrace and a luxurious bathroom create a cosy ambience in our suites, studios and chalets in a panoramic location. Culinary delights are provided as part of the gourmet board, with GERSTL's gourmet market and other gourmet highlights. On request, we can offer you a family package with pushchair, buggy, baby cot and much more, and we have a free parent-child station with baby food. There is plenty of space to let off steam indoors with a crawling course, supervised climbing wall, indoor football pitch and more. Outside there are pedal go-karts, a playground and an off-road slide waiting for little adventurers.

Sustainable family hotel at Lake Reschen

Whenever possible, DAS GERSTL Family Retreat uses products from companies and farmers within a maximum radius of 30 kilometres: The r30 seal guarantees regionality, seasonality and quality on the labelled products. We also pay attention to sustainability in other ways: with natural building materials, a photovoltaic system, heat from the district heating plant in Reschen, almost complete elimination of plastic in indoor toys and much more. With 50 hours of childcare and activities in the beautiful landscape of Vinschgau, kids and teens learn a lot about nature and the environment in a playful way, and have lots of fun at the same time. Baby care is available by arrangement and for a fee.

Adventures close to nature and a relaxing break

From DAS GERSTL Family Retreat at Lake Reschen, you can set off on a variety of hikes, cycle tours and mountain bike adventures. Stand-up paddling, kitesurfing, sailing and fishing are available on and around Lake Reschen. After these activities, the whole family can enjoy relaxation and entertainment in GERSTI's water world with heated indoor and outdoor pool, Aqua Fun Park with slides, baby pool and more. The family sauna and the adults only area offer saunas and treatments. For guests aged 16 and over, there is a gym with a weekly fitness and activity programme. In winter, the Schöneben/Haideralm family ski area is just 600 metres away, and the cross-country ski trail is a highlight for cross-country skiing fans. Practical: Hiking equipment is available for hire, and there is also a washing machine and tumble dryer for free use.

We stayed at the Gerstl Family Retreat last weekend and it was truly excellent! This hotel is an absolute paradise for families with children. The playground is huge, and the childcare facilities are impressive – any kindergarten could learn a thing or two. We've never seen anything like it. The spa and children's areas are also designed with incredible attention to detail. The rooms are modern, comfortable, and offer a breathtaking view of Lake Reschen and the surrounding mountains – simply unique. Of course, you can still tell here and there that the hotel only recently opened, but these are minor details of a very high standard. The entire team is young, dedicated, and clearly enjoys their work – you can tell there's a really good concept behind it. A thoroughly successful hotel for families that we can absolutely recommend!

We stayed at the Gerstl Hotel during the autumn holidays. We arrived with great anticipation. Here is a summary of our vacation. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating, whether at reception, in the kids' club, or in the restaurant. They all embody a service-oriented mindset. The hotel is clean, bright, and beautifully furnished. The entire building smells wonderful and pleasant. The sauna and swimming pool area is lovely, and the water for toddlers is pleasantly warm. The rooms are nicely furnished and spacious. A nightlight in the bathroom or toilet would certainly be helpful for children. Also, room service often didn't arrive until the afternoon. The children's area is large and offers many activities. However, it's rather difficult to find something suitable for children under 5. The indoor area for children aged 0-5 who aren't in the kids' club definitely has room for improvement and development. The food was tasty, but sometimes quite monotonous. There is definitely room for improvement, especially for children. There was always pizza and pasta, but you get tired of that after five days. The rule that children can eat lunch at noon, but parents can't have their soup until 2 p.m., is very inconvenient and doesn't encourage eating together at all. A change here would be sensible, as eating is more than just sustenance. Breakfast was always the same. There was something for everyone. The kids' club repeats its program after just one week, as does the movie program. For families staying longer than seven days, this makes the second half of the vacation monotonous. Unfortunately, a stomach virus was circulating in the hotel during our stay, which led to several people becoming infected. We would have appreciated it if the hotel had provided information about this. Unfortunately, not all parents adhered to keeping sick children away from the indoor activities. Overall, the hotel is nice. However, the offerings aren't enough for us to justify another stay.

Beautiful new facility. The playroom for children and adults was huge and well-equipped. The pool with slides and various water games kept our children entertained for the entire stay, while we were able to enjoy the spa, which was for adults only. The food was good but not up to the standards of a 5-star hotel. The buffet was quite simple, and the dining room was a bit chaotic. For the price, I expected something more professional overall.

We spent a day at the family hotel's day spa from about 10 am to 6 pm and enjoyed swimming, especially the water slide. Unfortunately, it was very windy and cool in the outdoor pool area, but it was pleasantly warm inside – even in the hotel's cozy bathrobes. The reception staff were present and very helpful throughout the day. After our morning in the water, we took our kids to the small but pleasant restaurant for lunch. The children could eat from the buffet. We adults could choose whether to get food from the buffet or order from the small but good menu at our table. Drinks, including coffee, are readily available at the nearby beverage dispenser. In the afternoon, we spent a considerable amount of time in the indoor play area, which is located down the hall next to the swimming pool and extends over two floors. A cake buffet with fruit, juices, and ice cream was included in the day spa package in the afternoon. Afterward, we went back to the playroom and later went for one last swim (plus a visit to the sauna, which was clothed). After that, an enjoyable and reasonably priced day at this beautiful and very modern hotel came to an end. The changing area isn't very large, but it's sufficient when there aren't too many day spa guests. For us, the drive there and back to the northern end of Lake Reschen was rather long, but that naturally depends on where you're coming from. The view, however, is definitely worth it (lake, Altgraun church tower, Ortler Group). A great day, especially for the kids.

I don't even know where to start raving about it!!! We were there for a week and EVERYTHING was just perfect!! Every detail has been thought of for both the kids and the adults! Not only is the Kids Club superbly equipped, but the girls there were so sweet and kind that even Willi, who was only 15 months old, ended up staying there with his 2-year-old brother! The activities are endless, both in the hotel and on excursions. The pool area is sensational and the water is so warm that the kids never feel like they are cold. The food was fantastic, healthy and varied!! And the SERVICE and the PEOPLE!! There wasn't a single grumpy person in the hotel... everyone, without exception, was super sweet and friendly!! Our waiters Giuseppe and Jasmina and young Lukas were so incredibly nice and attentive every evening and sooooo sweet with the kids!! We felt so comfortable and welcome!! We will definitely be back!!

A wonderful family hotel with a focus on children. The food is wonderful, although sometimes it wasn't entirely clear what was being served and what awaited us at the varied buffet. But after two or three days, we had that under control. The bar takes a little longer in the evenings to place orders and deliver the ordered drinks. However, the staff here are very friendly. I can't recommend the Gini Mini; it's more like iced water with a little flavor than a gin and tonic. On the other hand, the Negroni is wonderfully classic and, if ordered with a little ice, elegantly presented and delicious. The indoor playground offers something for all children, from interactive activities to simple slides and a climbing wall. The water world offers variety for all ages. For quieter moments, there's the adults-only area with two dry saunas and one wet sauna. The indoor area is wonderfully warm for very small to slightly older children, offering fun and entertainment. The outdoor pool is large enough for everyone and has plenty of bubble areas. The childcare staff is welcoming and provides an exciting program. We thoroughly enjoyed our four days!
