When:
Where: Mining Museum Schneeberg, Moos in Passeier
Region: Meran and environs

Those who love the mountains and the mysterious charm of mines, should not miss the fantastic excursion to the Schneeberg mine located between the valleys of Ridnaun and Passeier near Meran.

Located at 2,355 m above sea level, the more than 800 year old mine is the highest one in Europe. Near the mine you can visit also the refuge. The activities of the mine ceased in 1967. Later it was transformed and restructured in order to be visited.

Moreover, at the disposal of visitors there was created an exhibition space that shows all aspects of life of the Schneeberg mine. In addition, there is also the possibility to undertake an interesting walk, which can be done in three sections of different duration. During an easy stroll you will discover the hardest aspects of life in mine and in the South Tyrolean mountains.

Also the nearby shelter was completely renovated and can accommodate up to 100 people. The mine can be reached on foot through four different paths: in about two hours from Timmelsjoch (Passeiertal valley) or in four hours from Maiern in Ridnaun.

Don't miss the opportunity to explore the mysterious underground world of the Schneeberg mine!
