Snowshoe hike in Martell

Starting point for this snowshoe hike is the farm Stallwieser Hof in Martell, situated at an altitude of 1,931 m above sea level.

Just in front of the hut, a broad forestry track leads off through the Sebelwald forest eastwards. After approximately 1 hour’s walking time the trail finishes at a meadow in the forest, called Wiesboden. In summer time the mountain pathway marked 15 continues onward to the meadows, though in the winter this is the point to turn back and regard the Wiesboden as a rewarding detour.

After a further 15 minute walk you cross a small hollow and climb up to the hill Suchbühel. From the round summit you are rewarded with a superb view of the valleys of Martell and Vinschgau. Just beyond the Suchbühel a forestry road branches off leading uphill towards the west.

After a circa 1 hour walking time you come on to the pathway with the number 23, which soon slopes downhill, and onto the pathway marked with the number 5, which leads uphill from Stallwieser. Follow this footpath down to the Stallwieser-Hof.
