Holiday region Eppan
With the extensive vineyards, which cover an area of about 1,200 hectare, Eppan is the largest wine-growing municipality in South Tyrol. Its territory is located at 240 to 1,600 meters above sea level and comprises nine lovely wine villages and hamlets.
The districts St. Michael, St. Pauls, Girlan, Perdonig, Montiggl, Missian, Frangart, Gaid and Unterrain nestle in the typical hilly countryside of Southern South Tyrol. It is characterized not only by idyllic vineyards, dense forests and the mountain ranges above them, but also by more than 180 castles, palaces and other noble estates. Not for nothing Eppan is known as area with the most castles throughout Europe.
People appreciate the region around Eppan also because of its very mild climate that attracts early in spring with pleasant temperatures and a southern atmosphere. Combined with many precious hours of sunshine this climate creates ideal conditions for viniculture. So it is hardly surprising that about 25 wine and sparkling wine producers and three distilleries there produce every year many internationally famous drops.
For active vacationers Southern South Tyrol offers among other things a lot of varied walks and cycle paths, which invite to experience the pleasures and beauties of the region in a close and active way. From the unique, seemingly Mediterranean vegetation and fantastic swimming lakes to cultural and natural treasures – there is something for the whole family!
