Therefore, also professional athletes do their high altitude training in the mountains. This is mainly in summer, when the high temperatures and the hot sun complicate long-distance runs in the valley. Numerous world champions, Olympic champions and world record holders have selected the Seiser Alm to train and many of the trails are named after those athletes.

Trails for every kind of runner

In total, the Running Park includes 27 trails for runners, trail runners and Nordic walkers with different lengths and degrees of difficulty. Eight of them are located on the Seiser Alm pasture, at an altitude of 1,800 to 2,300 m; the other 19 trails among 900 and 1.100 m around the villages of Kastelruth, Seis and Völs am Schlern. In the lower positions, running is possible for a longer period as on the higher altitude, so that trainings are possible almost all year round.

A very challenging trail is the 19.2 km long Panoramic Tour, whereas beginners normally choose the Beginners Run. All running tracks are excellently signposted, with minor impact on the environment and on the beauty of the uncontaminated nature. As it is the case with the ski slopes, the running trails are divided into colours. There are blue, red and black trails – with increasing levels of difficulty.
