Culinary hiking week
In South Tyrol hiking and mountaineering is very enjoyable, but sometimes also arduous. Motivation is guaranteed by the attainment of the summit, but also by the expectation of a tasty gratification in a nice alpine hut.
Of course you have to be recompensed for longer exertions of the ascent, for example with a refreshing beer, a hearty bacon sandwich, a good portion of spaghetti or a home-made apple strudel.
Exactly this combination of nice hiking tours and good food is focused by the culinary hiking week during the summer months in the alpine region Gitschberg-Jochtal.
There you can find many alpine huts, which are reachable through pleasant or more demanding hiking tours. If you reach them, delicious dumplings, potatoe dishes, alpine cheese, different kinds of fritters and many other specialties will be your reward.
