Mountain biking in Vinschgau Valley

Enjoy this mountain bike tour from Sulden to Stierberg-alpine pasture!

Sulden is situated at the feet of Mt. Ortler and it is a rewarding skiing resort in winter. Located at 1950 m above sea level Sulden is far away from the main Vinschgau Valley and seems to be laid at the end of the world. Maybe because of that Sulden is a very treasure of South Tyrol.

The mountain bike tour

The mountain bike tour begins in Prad am Stilfser Joch. Passing at the St. Johann Church and the farm bar “Zum Dürren Ast” you arrive at the Valnairhof farm and at the Stilfser bridge. Cross it and take the forest track “Trus” (nr 13) to Sulden.

The last kilometers to Sulden you have to undertake on the main road. Arrived there relax in one of the many cafes and bars before you tackle the last 300 altimeters. Continue your tour pedaling to Hotel Marlet, where begins the forest track 19 and 18. The track is very steep and brings you to the Käseralm-alpine pasture. Cross the tree-limit and pedal to the Stierberg-alpine pasture. Relax here and enjoy the wonderful view over Sulden and surroundings.

To turn back take the beautiful path to Valnair-alpine pasture. There begins a curvaceous forest track. Attention: don’t miss the branch-off to Tschengls.

In Tschengls you have to take the cycling path to come back to Prad am Stilfser Joch. The tour is 26 km long and lasts 4 hours.
