Schnals and the homonymous glacier in Vinschgau Valley are rewarding territories for sportsmen, who like outdoor activities in summer and in winter. Most of all mountain bikers and excursionists are feeling fine here.

A very special and demanding mountain bike tour is the one from Similaun Refuge to the Vernagt storage lake, a tour which is the second part of the Alpencross- Vent-Similaun Refuge.

The mountain bike tour

The tour begins at the Similaun Refuge. You get there afoot, carrying your mountain bike. But don’t be afraid: the downhill trail is amazing and one of the most demanding in the Alps. Steeply serpentines, small bends and rocky paths: here you can show your skills!

“Normal”-bikers should better push their bike in the first part of the trail. It is the most difficult. You absolutely must be able to displace the back wheel, if you want to do this trail!
