Hiking in Vinschgau Valley

Hiking around Vernagtsee-Lake

The Schnalstal Valley has some very special offers for its guest: there is the Schnalstal glacier, where you can ski even in summer, original and hundreds of years old farms and the idyllic Vernagtsee Lake, a wonderful hiking area. Explore the lake by undertaking an excursion.

The excursion

The excursion in Schnalstal Valley begins in the village of Vernagt. Choose the right side of the lake and walk towards the farms Tisenhof and Rafienhof (1886 m). There you have to take path 9 and to hike in direction of Fineil farm, which was for long time the highest situated seed-farm of Europe. Before you get there follow again path 9 until you come to the Schnals-road. Take here path 13 which brings you to wooden stairs and to a suspension bridge.

Cross the airy bridge and you will arrive at the river of Vernagtsee Lake. Here you get back to Vernagt, your starting point.
You need 3 hours for the entire excursion in Vinschgau Valley.
