Holidays in Schluderns
Schluderns is a lovely village in Vinschgau Valley at the exit of the small Matscher Valley. Like a big brother the landmark Churburg watch at Schluderns and the Vinschgau Valley, a landmark you absolutely have to visit.
Before visiting the castle we recommend to know the centre of Schluderns. Here are many nice restaurants and bars. Around Schluderns, however, there are a lot of excursion paths from where you have a great view on King Ortler Mountain.
The Churburg castle
Don’t miss the landmark Churburg. It is one of the best preserved residences in South Tyrol. Even though Churburg Castle has been inhabited by the same family and therefore not all wings of the castle are open to the public, the guided tour through the richly painted loggia yard and up to the armoury is well worth while.Visit also the Saint Katherine’s church: the statues there were made with skeleton, which the church-builders find in roman catacombs in medieval times. Ghoulish but fascinating.
