Hiking in Vinschgau Valley

Prad: excursion to the Lichtenberg alpine-pastures

Prad is situated in the three-state-area between Italy, Switzerland and Austria and it is a lovely village in the middle of orchards and alpine landscapes.

Some kilometers out of Prad you come to the majestic Lichtenberg ruin and after a 4 hours hiking-tour to the homonymous alpine pastures.

The excursion

The excursion begins in the hamlet Lichtenberg close to Prad in Vinschgau Valley. Take path 12 and hike to the Platzhof Farm and the Scharta-alpine pasture at 1829 m above sea level. Here you have to follow path 13 and to hike through beautiful forests and lovely alpine meadows until you come to the Lichtenberg-alpine pasture. The single huts are connected by a romantic and panoramic path. Enjoy the view over Prad and the Upper Vinschgau Valley.

To turn back you have to take path 14. For the entire hiking-tour you need 6 hours and you get over 1100 altimeter.
