Through Mühlwald Valley to Neves Lake

Mühlwald and the surroundings of Neves Lake are popular hiking and cycling areas in Tauferer Ahrntal Valley. The lovely valley, the blue lake and the white glaciers form the perfect scenery for unforgettable itineraries.

The mountain bike tour

The demanding mountain bike tour begins in Kematen near Sand in Taufers. Cross the bridge and cycle to Mühlen where the steep ascent to Mühlwald Neves Lake begins (to get there you have to cycle over about 15 steep kilometers). Arrived at Neves Lake you will be impressed by the amazing landscape.

Continue the tour biking to Chemnitzer Refuge at 2420 m above sea level taking excursion-paths and forest tracks. Arrived there you have hard-earned a typical South Tyrolean snack with speck, bread and sausages. After the break you have to bike to Göge-alpine pasture.

From there you will reach a village on a forest track. Arrived there, take the excursion-path and cycle to Luttach and then to Sand in Taufers. From there you soon come back to Kematen, your starting point.

The entire mountain bike tour in Mühlwald and in the homonymous valley is 49 km long and good physical conditions are needed.
