Hiking in Southern South Tyrol

From Terlan to Reifenstein-Ruin

Terlan is a small and lovely village situated at the north of Bozen in Southern South Tyrol. From the gorgeous wine-village derive the delicious South Tyrolean asparagus and every spring the harvest is being celebrated during a big festivity.

But not only gourmets will feel fine here: excursionists will feel comfortable, too. A worthwhile excursion around Terlan is the one to Reifenstein-Ruin.

The excursion

Starting point is Siebeneich, a village near by Terlan. At the Patauner Inn you have to take the subway and to walk to the baroque style church. Take path 11 and walk to a residential quarter near the forest. After you have pass the quarter, cross a brook and hike on a marvelous und various path to the Reifenstein-Ruin, which was once a mighty castle.

Don’t climb the ruin! The path is steep and exposed. It’s dangerous! To turn back take the same paths as to get there.
