From Leifers to Sanctuary Maria Weißenstein

The Sanctuary Maria Weißenstein is the most popular sanctuary in Southern South Tyrol and it is absolutely worth seeing, not only for religious people.

1553 Saint Mary appears to Leonard Weißenstein there and over the intervening years a big church and monastery was being built.

The excursion

The excursion begins in Leifers near Emmaus House. Take the pilgrimage route towards the Sanctuary Maria Weißenstein. Along the road you will see all the beautiful Stations of the Cross and you can admire contemporary the great Southern South Tyrol’s landscape.

After 700 m you have to turn in direction of Brantental Valley until you arrive to Gschößlerhof and Bucherhof Inns. Arrived there take again the pilgrimage route and on 11th Station of the Cross take the path to the lovely Petersberg village. After a short break in a nice café you go on to the marvelous Sanctuary Maria Weißenstein.

The whole excursion lasts 4 hours. The way back is the same as the way to get there.
