Andrian: excurison on Eppan High Mountain Trail

Andrian is a small quaint village near Eppan and Terlan in Southern South Tyrol and it is the ideal destination for oenophiles: original cellars, excellent restaurants and for excursionists many itineraries. What more do you want?

A recommendable excursion in the surroundings of Andrian is the one on the Eppan High Mountain Trail.

The excursion

The excursion begins in the center of St. Michaels, situated near Andrian. From the main square you have to hike to the Gleifkirche church and then for 20 minutes to Steinegger Inn. Here you have to take path 7 and walk to the peak of Mt. Matschatsch. Arrived there, you will be amazed because of the wonderful view over Castle Matschatsch, located in the great men-made country of Southern South Tyrol.

Above the castle begins the Eppan High Mountain Trail. You walk along the famous mountain trail for 3 hours. Arrived at Buchwald and passing Kreuzstein Castle and Freudenstein Castle you will return to St. Michaels.

The entire excursion lasts 6 hours and we recommend it to well trained hikers.
