Holidays and hotels in Meran
Meran in South Tyrol is one of the most beautiful cities of the region. This is due to the mild climate, which makes bloom cactus, palms, cypresses and apples and due to the typical Tyrolean city-architecture.
What holiday makers like are the arcades with the many shops, the sunny promenades and the castles in and around Meran. The most popular and important one is the Trauttmansdorff Castle, where Empress Sissi from Austria spent her holidays and where now the museum of tourism is housed. Close to the castle there’s another sight: the botanic gardens of Trauttmansdorff, which were awarded several times for being the most beautiful in Italy.
In winter however we recommend the ski areas Meran 2000 and Schwemmalm for delightful days in the snow.
Last but not least we have to mention also the new Thermal Baths in Meran city, which are the largest in whole South Tyrol and surely one of the most modern in Italy.
