In St. Martin in Passeier was born Andreas Hofer in 18th century, a very popular freedom-fighter who fought very bravely against Napoleon and his troops in 1809.

His "Sandwirt" farm now is a museum, dedicated to the life of Andreas Hofer and the traditional culture in his lifetime. The museum is absolutely worth seeing.
