Hiking in Eisacktal Valley

Aim high: excursion to Mt. Eidechsspitze

The Mt. Eidechsspitze is one of the most popular mountains in Eisacktal Valley: the excursion is middle difficult but demanding and leads you through meadows, forests and a high-alpine country to a panoramic peak. An unforgettable experience.

The excursion

Starting point is the Weißenbach Valley in Terenten (you reach Terenten by car coming from Vintlon the Road of Sun). From the signposted parking place you hike into the valley on path 8, you reach Gols and the Engl-alpine pasture. Take here path 22 and walk very steeply and on very exposed tracks to the peak of Mt. Eidechsspitze (2738 m above sea level). From here you have a great view over Pfunderertal Valley and Pustertal Valley.

To turn back take again path 22 and walk to the Kompfossee Lake. From there you hike to the Tiefrasten Refuge and the homonymous lake (2312 m above sea level). After a merited break you take path 23 to turn back to the starting point.
